The light is starting to get a big golden, and the air a little crisp. We've been making batches of Pumpkin soap and Chai Tea Solid Lotion at Conspire, and the shop smells like cinnamon and ginger. It's Pumpkin Spice everything time... and we've got the candles. Willow artist Greg Adams has stocked us up with fall bundles of curly willow and pussywillow, and we have a fresh collection of handmade baskets from local artist Susie Billingsley. And did I mention... crystals? You have to see, and feel, the smoky quartz, amethyst, rose quartz, selenite and more now available at the shop, along with a collection of tapestries, incense, chakra candles, and more.
Our fall gallery show opens on Friday, September 4, and runs through the end of November. Celebrated local artist Stu Fabe is a real Renaissance Man, and we are showcasing a diverse collection of his work including time-lapse photography of the night sky, whimsical illustrations, and truly elegant fine art gourds. Stu will be on hand Friday night to speak about his work.
The students have been returning, and we're so glad to see their (masked) faces. The downtown is feeling more lived-in, thanks in part to the closure of part of Indiana Street to accomodate restaurant overflow. We love the pedestrian-friendly area that is forming downtown, and you'll often find our youngest, Rose, roller skating from the shop to Scoops for an ice cream cone.
Conspire is thriving in our new, beautiful, open and airy location at 14 E. Washington Street. If you haven't been in yet, you really should. Our new shop contains a large community center component, with a crafting area, study section, games, and a computer lab. Thanks to all who have donated materials to make this space a reality. We are thrilled to be able to offer study space for virtual learning, hangout space for teens, and a creative outlet for kids.
We are serious about our community's safety in light of Covid-19. Masks are required at Conspire, and surfaces are cleaned frequently throughout the day. Classes are currently suspended until Spring 2021. In the meantime, let us know what you'd like to learn! We are adding some socially distance, fun community events that can be held safely at the bar or outside the shop.
Here's to moving forward into the 'new normal' together.
Peace and Love,
JD
